Centre for the Study of Adolescence (CSA) is a leading national organization committed to the promotion of health and development of young people through research, technical assistance, advocacy, and capacity building. CSA works in partnership with governments, relevant institutions, professionals and communities to support young people’s right to exercise choice, access health services and participate fully in activities that promote their health and general well-being.

About Safire Program

Supporting Access for Adolescents to Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (Safire) is a four-year programme (2018–2022) which aims to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with unintended pregnancies among girls (10 – 19 years of age) in Kenya and Nigeria. It will achieve this by improving girls’ access to quality Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) information and services in the private sector, addressing community barriers through stigma reduction and community referrals, and using existing technology such as social media and hotlines. The programme and interventions are informed by Human Centred Design conducted 2018 – 2019 to ensure our approach is based on innovative solutions informed by girls’ insights.

Our integrated Safire model comprises of three key work streams:

  • Information Pathways for Girls
  • Community Engagement
  • Quality Services

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Program Manager, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Develop, implement, and manage the organisations overall communications strategy / plan
  • Develop IEC materials, including factsheets, brochures, posters, presentations, articles, e-newsletter, reports, short videos and animations etc.;
  • Develop human interest stories and communication products to support projects/programs implementation and further raise their visibilities;
  • Oversees the organisations social media channels and website.
  • Develop a social media plan aligned with the project communication plan / strategy and provide strategic guidance in growing and maintaining audience engagement through creation of engaging content for the organisation social media channels and website;
  • Publish and share creative and innovative content on all digital platforms to online community members.
  • Develop content for infographics, charts, and maintain a photo library
  • Coordinating social media activities for education, training and public awareness
  • Get partners, other stakeholders and influencers on board in multiple channels (Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok , Facebook, YouTube) to collaborate on social media education and awareness activities / sessions
  • Provide graphic design support to public project documents including slide decks, infographics, data visualizations, conceptual frameworks, tables, etc
  • Provide back end technical support through Zoom and other virtual platforms
  • Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on communications efforts
  • Performs related responsibilities as required

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student or recent graduate in communication, journalism, public relations or any other related course
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator);
  • Experience in graphic design or creating infographics;
  • Creative; artistic; knowledge of trending styles;
  • Interest, education, or experience in social media, communications, and/or marketing
  • Interest in the ASRH, and development fields;
  • Interest, education, or experience working with trending social media platforms (Twitter, TikTok, you tube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.);
  • Experience in information gathering and research – book, journal, and internet;
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills and the ability to draft, edit and proofread; and,
  • Excellent computer skills (including Word, Excel, various Web 2.0 tools, Google Drive)

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics is a plus;
  • Familiarity with Adobe Dreamweaver, WordPress, and web design are a plus;
  • Outstanding English language skills, with proven skills to produce engaging and impactful communications materials
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently and in a team;
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
  • Creative and thorough approach to work; and,
  • Interest in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of ASRHR programming
